The Grand Canyon! One of the most iconic natural wonders in the United States, the Grand Canyon is a breath taking example of erosion and geological history. Located in Arizona, it stretches 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide, and a mile deep. The Colorado River has carved out this vast canyon over millions of years, revealing layers of rock and creating a stunning landscape. Visitors can hike, camp, or take a scenic drive along the rim, or descend into the canyon for a more immersive experience. The Grand Canyon is a must-see destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike!

Grand Canyon is divided into three main areas with each zone or rim offering unique experiences and perspectives on the Grand Canyon. So during visit it is worth considering what one is looking for-

Our Grand Canyon West Adventure:

We embarked on an exciting journey to Grand Canyon West, departing from Las Vegas in the early morning. The scenic drive took us approximately 2.5 hours, winding through the Arizona landscape. Upon arrival, we parked near the Welcome Centre and purchased tickets for the Grand Canyon Skywalk experience.

Ticket Details

The ticket price was $99 per person, which included access to the zip line and a free shuttle bus ride to Eagle Point and Guano Point. Notably, visitors must purchase these tickets to access the canyon viewpoints, even if they’re not interested in the Skywalk. However, the zip line has a separate location, requiring a drive to the designated centre.

Skywalk Experience

After a brief wait, we boarded the shuttle bus, which arrived every few minutes. We reached Eagle Point in no time and began our Skywalk experience. Before entering the enclosure, we stored our valuables in complimentary lockers. Cameras were prohibited inside, but mobile phones were allowed, albeit with caution. A brief introduction to the Skywalk and Grand Canyon set the stage for an unforgettable experience.

As we stepped onto the glass bridge, the breath taking view of the canyon below left us awestruck. The vertical drop of 500-800 feet might intimidate some, but the Skywalk’s sturdy design, capable of withstanding over 71 million pounds of weight, provided reassurance. The stunning vista through the clear glass was truly mesmerizing.

Exploring Eagle Point and Guano Point

After the Skywalk experience, we explored Eagle Point, taking in the panoramic views and capturing memorable photos. Next, we boarded the shuttle bus to Guano Point, where we enjoyed the scenery and freshened up.

Our Grand Canyon West adventure was an unforgettable experience, showcasing the natural beauty and engineering marvel of the Skywalk. If you’re planning a visit, be prepared for an exhilarating experience that will leave you with lifelong memories.
